This car was first assembled and registered 1/1/2017. I purchased it with 12 miles on the clock 25/09/2017. By the first of October that year it had been completely stripped back to kit form and the chassis returned to Triking for altering the dash end bracings and lowering of the seat pan. It was then powder coated in standard Black and returned for me to build again. The body was part exchanged for a new item including the new ‘vintage’ rear tub. The blue interior was sold to a club member.

A host of new parts were purchased from Triking in Hingham: New reduced track width ‘A’ top frames, the lowers being converted at Triking. A complete set of ‘Bridge of Weir’ top quality leather interior in Burgundy, a new dashboard blank [later to be given an Engine turned finish], a new windscreen and supports, Burgundy tonneau, Stainless oil return tank, air filters and new wiring loom. Later purchases were the new improved comfort suspension set up with Hagon Nitro units. [What a difference]. Other purchases oil and fuel delivery pipe, Cupro nickel brake pipe, petrol and oil filters, cables, Trigger handbrake, speedo sender and stainless fastenings. New alternator, regulator and engine timing sender. New petrol pump. Correctly chipped ECU by Triking.

All powder coating was removed and the rocker covers, alternator housing, headlamps and front bar polished to a high standard. The brake discs and calipers were stripped of powder coat, calipers rebuilt with new seals and both painted appropriately. The front hubs were polished at Triking and wheels rebuilt with stainless rims and spokes.

The rebuild could begin. Many extras and detail were included in the four year build. I had a T2 to distract me. Many pictures exist of the process which were used in a two consecutive issue, multiple page spread in a car magazine.

The features could be listed under different headings thus:

Vintage theme. The car has been built to emulate the vintage era as far as possible, this includes the Rear tub shape with bespoke rear lamps, ribbed front mudguards, engine turned dash, full compliment of instruments, switch gear, 1966 reg no. and the style of leather interior.
